A waterproof and breathable valve is a special type of valve that can prevent moisture (such as rainwater, fog, water vapor, etc.) from entering the interior of equipment while allowing air to enter and exit freely.
Its structure typically includes key components such as a waterproof and breathable membrane. The waterproof and breathable membrane is a microporous membrane. The size of the micropores is carefully designed to enable gas molecules (such as oxygen, nitrogen, etc.) to pass through smoothly, while liquid water cannot penetrate these micropores due to the effect of surface tension. The outer shell part serves to protect and fix the breathable membrane, and at the same time, it is adaptively installed with the outer shell of the equipment.
Balance the air pressure inside and outside the equipment. When the air pressure inside the equipment changes due to temperature variations (such as heat generated during the operation of electronic devices) or altitude changes (such as in aviation equipment), the breathable valve allows air to flow in and out. This prevents the formation of excessively high or low air pressure inside the equipment, thus avoiding issues like deformation of the equipment housing and damage to the seals.
